Novo Nordisk is committed to changing diabetes and calling for greater awareness and action around this disease. One way is through showcasing our efforts and research to a broad audience across the country. Learn the latest about our specific efforts by selecting one of the initiatives below.

Results showed that there is a lack of effective, coordinated federal leadership and spending in diabetes prevention, treatment and care.

Federal Scoring Studies
Novo Nordisk Inc. commissioned research by a team of University of Chicago researchers to create model examining the epidemiological progression of diabetes and its complications to show that an investment in early, aggressive prevention and treatment of diabetes yields payoffs that increase over time. The authors conclude that because certain chronic illnesses progress slowly over many years, sometimes even decades, a 10-year cost projection window, as used by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and other government agencies, can be insufficient for capturing the full cost consequences of alternative policy scenarios.

Diabetes Forecasting
Novo Nordisk commissioned the Institute for Alternative Futures (IAF) to develop projections of the likely prevalence, morbidity and cost of diabetes out to 2015 and 2025 for each of the 50 states and 13 selected metropolitan areas. The model is based on the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention projections for the country. This research will be available soon. Check back for updates!
